The short version: nothing optional runs unless you opt in. On a first visit this Site sets no cookies at all; a consent banner asks before anything optional is stored, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. Analytics runs only if you say yes; no marketing or affiliate cookie is set at all today. Beyond your consent choice, the Site stores only one session-only notice-acknowledgement flag. Details in our Cookie Policy.
1. Who we are
This Site is operated by [My Health Choice Ltd — company number pending registration], the data controller responsible for your personal data. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us at:
- Email: privacy@myhealthchoice.co.uk
- Address: [Registered office address — pending]
We are registering with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Our ICO registration number is: [ICO registration number — pending].
2. What data we collect
As a price comparison service, we aim to collect as little personal data as possible — and at the moment, the Site collects almost nothing:
| Data type | Collected today? | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, payment or health data | No | We never ask for these. There are no accounts, forms or checkouts on this Site. |
| Cookies or device storage | Only what you allow | Nothing is stored on a first visit. One strictly necessary cookie records your consent choice once you make one; everything else is set only for categories you opt in to. See our Cookie Policy for the exact list. |
| Analytics data | Only with your consent | Google Analytics 4 runs only if you opt in via the consent banner; the analytics script is not even loaded until then. Reject it (or say nothing) and no analytics runs. |
| Referral data | Partially — by the destination site | When you click a “Go to Provider Website” or “Start a consultation” link, the provider's site can see the visit came from ours (a standard web referrer). Affiliate attribution on our side is planned and will be consent-gated. |
| Emails you send us | Only if you write to us | If you email us, we hold your address and message for as long as needed to reply and resolve your query. |
We do not collect your name, email address, payment details, or any health or medical information through the Site itself. We do not require you to create an account, and your searches and comparisons happen in your browser without being sent to us.
3. Cookies and device storage
The Site uses a consent tool with three categories: strictly necessary (always on: one first-party cookie, mhc_consent, recording the consent choice you make, kept for 6 months, plus a session-only acknowledgement flag if you continue past the prescription-information notice — neither contains personal data), analytics (Google Analytics 4, loaded and set only after you opt in), and marketing / affiliate attribution (nothing in this category is set today, even if you opt in; it exists so future affiliate attribution can only ever launch behind consent). No optional category is pre-ticked, rejecting is as prominent as accepting, and a Global Privacy Control or Do-Not-Track browser signal is honoured as a rejection of everything optional. See the Cookie Policy for the exact list of names and lifetimes.
You can change your mind at any time via the “Manage cookies” link in the footer of every page; withdrawing analytics consent stops analytics immediately and clears its cookies. You can also verify or clear anything stored for this Site at any time through your browser settings.
4. How we use your data
We use the little data we handle to:
- Provide and improve our price comparison service
- Respond to emails and correction reports you send us
- Understand how the Site is used (only in future, and only with your consent, via analytics)
- Attribute referrals to providers (only in future, and only with your consent)
- Comply with our legal obligations
We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you, build personal profiles, or sell your data to third parties.
5. Our legal basis for processing
| Processing activity | Status | Legal basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| Storing a cookie-consent choice | Active — set only when you make a choice in the banner | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)); strictly necessary storage, exempt from consent under PECR |
| Analytics cookies | Active only if you opt in | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Affiliate attribution cookies | Planned, not in use — the consent category exists, but nothing is set today even with an opt-in | Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) |
| Handling emails you send us | Active | Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
6. Affiliate links and third parties
Our Site contains links to third-party provider websites (“Go to Provider Website” buttons, or “Start a consultation” on prescription treatment pages). When you click one of these links:
- You will leave our Site and be directed to the provider's website
- The provider may set their own cookies on your device, under their own policies
- We may receive a commission if you make a purchase — this is disclosed in the footer of every page and explained in full on our How We Work page
- We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites
We suggest reading the privacy policy of any provider website you visit before submitting personal information.
7. Data retention
Because the Site holds no accounts and stores almost nothing on your device, there is very little to retain. Your consent choice lives in your own browser for 6 months (or until you clear it). Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your query. If you opt in to analytics, analytics data is retained in accordance with Google Analytics' retention settings, no longer than 26 months.
8. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — to request correction of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure — to request deletion of your data in certain circumstances
- Right to restrict processing — to ask us to limit how we use your data
- Right to object — to object to our use of your data where we rely on legitimate interests
- Right to withdraw consent — at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Right to lodge a complaint — with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@myhealthchoice.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any data associated with your use of this Site. As we do not collect or store personal health information, the risk to your sensitive data from using this Site is minimal.
10. Children
This Site is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
